Pau Hana

These photographs are part of the "PAU HANA" project, which is a series of Polaroid based enlarged photographs that take a close look at machines that find rest and are suddenly abandoned when the workday is over. These machines are used both in the Agriculture and Development industries, which seems to be a significant driving force of Maui's island economy. As they push, carve and dig into the earth they become a huge factor in shaping our environment. This affects the landscape, the weather and ultimately the price of land.

Juxtaposed are softer images of circus colored fumigation tents, which offer a quick solution when dealing with pests and infestations around the island.
